Of Dads Gone By!
As we approach another Father’s Day I’m sure many families will participate in honoring that very special man in their life’s. Many Fathers will relish in the joy of their children’s homage of special handmade treats, trinkets, and silly gifts. Cards, phone calls, or dinner out will be among the more popular celebrating symbols shared that day. However, there is another group of Fathers out there where Fathers day will come and go as if it was just another day. Perhaps estranged from their families for many possible reasons these Fathers will get no tributes. Maybe some of these Fathers were men who for whatever reason, had failed at fatherhood. They too will be forgotten. And there are men who maybe had been good fathers but now are a casualty of our Modern Culture; a society which breeds distances in Families and they may have outlived their usefulness as being a Dad. There is also a bunch of Dads out there that have felt the strain of separation from their sons or daughters, and perhaps alienation from their children, born from the acrimonious results of a divorce. And for them, this Father’s Day and many others may be marred with the anxiety of failure, discouragement, and sadness.
For all the Fathers out there on this coming Fathers Day who can reach out and feel the touch of love from their children that you have so carefully and warmly molded into their life’s, hold precious their embrace.
And for all you Fathers, who seem to have been forgotten about, do not feel so forlorn or forsaken; God has not forgotten your role as a Dad, even though it appears that your children may have.
